He was born in 1911 in Illinois and grew up in the family of Irish immigrants, alongside his elder brother Neil. After graduation from college Ronald worked as a radio commentator but was dreaming about a career in acting.
For that, in 1937 he moved to California and started being invited to join various cinema and TV projects. For his short career, Reagan appeared in almost 70 movies and about 20 TV films, as well as a host of various TV programs like General Electric Theater. In the 1950s he started receiving administrative positions in the Actors Guild related organizations and decided to try himself in politics becoming first a Democrat and then switching to the Republican Party.
His main ideology was anti-Communist one. In 1967 Reagan was elected the Governor of California and served 2 terms in office till winter 1975.
